Sivey recently hit us with the edit of Frank Ocean’s ‘Pink Matter’ and as soon as we hit play we knew it was a classic refix. Whether you’ve heard of Sivey or not, he is one of the best in the world. He has one of the most refreshing production styles. At the moment he is working on a collaboration with Evil Needle and is also working on his solo EP that is scheduled to release early 2013 on Soulection. Please pay attention.
Here are some words from the man himself:
“What’s up people, my name is Sivey, I’m a producer/remixer/beatmaker from the UK. The idea to remix “Pink Matter” came to me before I’d even finished listening to the original track for the first time. The bluesy, melancholic chords were screaming at me to throw some synths on them and see what happened. Originally I had planned to make an instrumental edit, just looping the intro riff as a sample, but as the original track is quite minimal I tried applying my parts over the whole song which worked surprisingly well. Arranging my production around the vocals resulted in a gradual “slow-burn” build-up that hopefully reflects the growing intensity of the original piece. I hope you enjoy the track.”
